Lake Gaston - Roanoke Rapids NC

Roanoke Rapids is located on Interstate 95 with direct access to the entire Eastern Seaboard and within a day's drive to the New York or Florida markets and within two hours drive to Raleigh, NC, Richmond, VA & Tidewater, VA. The Roanoke Valley encompasses an area of approximately 30 miles. There are over 4,000 businesses and 145,000 residents within this trade area. The area has an aggressive economic development environment with incentives and pro-growth strategies.

Our newest development is Carolina Crossroads, a music theater and entertainment district that contains over 700 acres and will be developed in phases. Phase 1 consist of The Roanoke Rapids Theater, the cornerstone of the entertainment district, a 35,000 sq ft. 1,500 seat theater that will host legends of The Grand Ole Opry. The district will contain more than 320,000 sq ft of retail and outlet stores, the 147 room Hilton Garden Inn along with several other hotels and restaurants. An 89 site RV Resort has opened on the property to accommodate travelers. "The Black Widow", Jeanette Lee also plans to break ground soon on her billiard club which will be a two story facility featuring 22 pool tables, a full-service restaurant, pro shop and VIP rooms. The current vision includes plans for four more live entertainment theaters with themes such as off-Broadway shows, dinner theaters and cultural themes.

Construction of the new Halifax-Northampton Regional Airport iscompleted. The new airport has the ability to accommodate corporate jet aircraft with a 5,500 foot runway.

Northampton County will become home to the North Carolina Vehicle Testing Facility just off of I95. Joining the test facility will be several smaller companies that will be using the facility as well a Lotus Motor Car Company. North Carolina BioFuels, LLC is bringing a biodiesel production facility to Northampton County on their 7.7 acre tract. Also planned for Northampton County is The Hampton Colony & Marketplace which will mirror some of the development as in the Williamsburg, VA area. The project will involve 1,000 plus acres and would include destination retailing, hotel and restaurant development and a golf course community.

These new developments will have an economic impact far beyond dollars and cents. In addition to job creation, the developments in the area will future position the Roanoke Valley as an East Coast travel destination. The Roanoke Rapids & Roanoke Valley areas will continue to see very positive economic growth in the years to come.
